Pack Rips: 2022 Panini Prizm Baseball Hangers
The other day I was checking out some discounted retail packs and I noticed that there were some 2022 Panini Prizm Hangers packs for $10 each. I have not opened much of this product so I figured it was worth a shot. I have done several posts on other Panini Prizm products, but this will be my first for 2022 Panini Prizm. For this post I will be opening 2 Hanger Packs.
2022 Panini Prizm is a 270 card set. The set includes three tiers that get progressively more difficult to pull. Tier 1: 1-110; Tier 2: 111-220; Tier 3: 221-270.
True to form, this set has a plethora of parallels that collectors can pull. There are 41, not counting printing plates. Some of these parallels are exclusive to various pack types, while the numbered cards are distributed throughout all the packs.
2022 is the last year where Panini was able to use players who are a part of the MLB Players Association, essentially players on the 40 man roster. In 2023, Panini baseball products featured prospects and retired stars.
The hanger pack contains 18 cards. In the two packs I opened I was able to pull 4 inserts and 14 parallels. There are several inserts sets to collect including Fireworks, Lumber Inc and Stained Glass. One thing that was a surprise to me was the amount of parallels in the packs. Each pack contained one Green Prizm. What was surprising to me was that there were 6 Red, White and Blue Prizms in each pack. I did not see any info about this on the packaging.
Autographs are plentiful in Prizm. There are around 100 different subjects in the rookie auto checklist. There are also many veteran and legends autos to be found. These two packs did not yield any autographs.
As with the other Prizm sets I have written about this will be a tough set to complete through boxes and packs. The multiple tiers of cards and their tough pull rates create the biggest challenge in set building.
For a $10 pack this was a fun rip. Prizm is a nice looking set, the amount of parallels per pack made it more interesting. In my collection, I’ve been slowly working on a Nick Allen rainbow. However, the ability to complete a base set (including all three tiers) is what tends to turn me away from working on this set.
