Pack Rip: 3 2024 Topps Series 1 Jumbo Value Packs

The Topps flagship line comes in many different packs and formats. Currently there are fives different retail formats for 2024 Topps Series 1. In an effort to give readers an idea of what you can expect to get, we plan on opening some of each format. In the post we will be opening three of the Jumbo Value Packs.

The Topps Jumbo Value packs have an average price of $7.99 per pack. Each pack contains 36 cards. Packs with a relic could contain 2-5 fewer cards. These packs are focused on value, the cost per card is $0.22 on average. Unlike many of the other retail formats, there are no special exclusives in these packs. In each pack I did get several good rookies from the class. These packs seem to be more focused on the base cards rather than inserts and parallels.

In the three packs I opened there were not a lot of inserts and parallels. There were two Stars of MLB inserts in each pack. These can be found in all retail packs. Outside of that, there was an average of one regular insert in each pack. The first yielded a 1989 Anniversary of Mookie Betts. The next contained a 2023 Greatest Hits of Aaron Judge, along with a Chrome Stars of MLB Mookie Betts. The final pack had another 1989 Anniversary card, this time Carlos Correa.

The third pack initially gave me the lone parallel card, a Kyle Schwarber Rainbow Foil. However there was something different in this pack. As I was opening the pack I noticed a gold border. At first I thought it might be a gold parallel /2024. As I looked close at the edge I knew it wasn’t that. It turned out to be a Gold Mirror Variation of Seattle Mariners Rookie Prelander Berroa. This is my first Gold Mirror Variation I have pulled. The Gold Mirror was introduced in 2023 and I did not pull one in all of the product I opened last year.

As a set collector this seems like a good way to go. In the three packs I opened, I did not get any duplicates. Bear in mind this is not always the case. As with any retail product you need to consider every single pack or box you purchase as a new box. This means that if you buy three of these packs, then you run the risk of getting 36 of the same exact cards. There is no claim that the collation will be perfect between packs.

If someone is hunting for insert and parallels, then I would not recommend these packs. While I did pull a Gold Mirror Variation, these fall one in every 303 packs. Basically every three cases.

I will continue this series on the 2024 Topps Series 1. I plan on doing a post for the Hanger packs, this coming weekend. The Blaster boxes and the Mega boxes will be done in the near future.
