Box Rip: 2024 Stadium Club Blasters x2
Topps Stadium Club is a fan favorite in large part due to the amazing photography. It is also a set that combines up-and-coming rookies, the game's brightest stars and legendary players into a beautiful catalog.
One of the best upgrades to the set this year included full color parallels, traditionally the parallels were only on the foil of the Stadium Club logo and the player’s name. This makes the parallel easier to identify and the image of the player stands out a little bit more.
The Triumvirates Nicknames insert is also a great take on the insert set. The basic Triumvirates set are die cuts that can connect 3 players to make a larger “card.” The Nicknames version takes 3 photos of the same player and the cards connect to showcase their nickname.
This year I have been buying a lot of the fat packs of Stadium Club. Included in each fat pack are 3 exclusive Pink parallels. I have not opened too many blaster boxes so I decided to pick up 2 blasters recently.
A 2024 Topps Stadium Club blaster box contains 6 packs with 8 cards per pack. Each box is said to contain 4 Chrome parallels, 2 inserts and 2 Sepia parallels. Basically you should get at least one of these parallels per pack. Each pack typically contains one Red Foil parallel on average. If you are looking to pull parallels this is a great product to do so!
One unfortunate aspect of Stadium Club this year is the collation of the cards in the packs. After opening the first blaster this trend was very apparent. All of the Red Foil parallels were Houston Astros. In the second blaster this was confirmed. All of the Red Foils were Kansas City Royals.
To take things a step farther many of the base cards were “grouped” in 3’s by teams. Even the 2 Black Foil parallels I pulled, one from each Blaster, were from the same team: Toronto Blue Jays.
If you hit the right team, like the Pirates or the Yankees, you could get some really great and valuable parallels. However, if you are a set builder, collation like this can make it more challenging to complete the set.
Fortunately the Chrome and Sepia parallels were more random in these blasters. I pulled a good mix of teams and players. There was even one Chrome Refractor in these packs which is always a bonus!
In the 2 blasters I was able to pull several of this year’s top rookies: Jackson Chourio, Wyatt Langford, Jackson Holliday and Jackson Merrill.
As advertised I pulled at least 2 inserts in each blaster. There were 2 Special Forces inserts, Jordan Lawlar and Elly De La Cruz. There was also an Acuna Jr Virtuosos of Velocity and a Trout Power Packed. In the second blaster I get a 3rd insert card. It was a Triumvirates Nicknames insert of Willie Mays. These inserts are 1 in every 97 packs.
This was one of the more interesting rips I’ve done this year. The photography on the cards is fantastic. The card design is one of their best in years. The collation issues and oddities are the only real detraction in these boxes. However, those are only minor in the scope of things.
Here are the stats for these blasters:
